MIRPURKHAS, July 19: The Anti-Corruption Establishment of Mirpurkhas on Thursday initiated inquiry into allegations of overcharging by a contractor in collusion with town municipal officer at the cattle piri of Jhuddo town.

Mohammad Ayoub Patoli, circle in-charge of ACE, told journalists that he had summoned taluka municipal officer (TMO) Jhuddo to his office to record his statement on July 21 with regard to the contract.

He said he took action after receiving information that the contractor at cattle piri was forcibly charging sellers and buyers of cattle excess fee. He said that he along with Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Aslam Shaikh and Jhuddo police officials raided the piri a few days ago and seized receipts in the possession of contractor Javed Qureshi.

He said that the receipts proved that the contractor was overcharging in collusion with the TMO because the receipts carried no official stamps. If charges were proved then an FIR would be lodged against the culprits, he said.
