KARACHI, July 19: The students of the Dow Medical College, concerned about an increase in the enrolment fee for the second year in succession, have demanded of the DUHS authorities to withdraw the decision.

Over 200 students of the MBBS first professional signed an application addressed to the vice-chancellor of the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) expressing their reservations on the increase of Rs500 in the enrolment fee for their examinations scheduled to be held later this month.

A delegation of students called on the DUHS vice-chancellor on Tuesday to discuss the issue. According to some delegates, the vice-chancellor assured them that he would reconsider the matter.

The students said that the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) increased the enrolment fee by Rs500 last year an citing increase in the expenditures on arranging the examination at a local hotel.

But, they said, this year the management had arranged for the examinations on the DUHS premises adding that a further increase in the fee could not be justified.
