KARACHI, July 19: City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil has said work to provide electricity to the rural areas of the metropolis, for which Rs70 million has been earmarked by the Sindh government in the Annual Development Programme, will be started in the current financial year.
The city government would also construct small dams in the city, for which the provincial government had allocated Rs150m; Rs50m will be spent during the first phase, she said, while chairing a high-level meeting held at her office on Thursday.
The union council nazims of the rural areas of Karachi would present the names of the goths of their respected UCs that ware still without electricity, she said.
Nasreen Jalil said the city government was paying special attention to the rural areas to ensure the provision of basic amenities to them. She told the meeting that besides ensuring the provision of electricity to rural areas, the provincial government had also earmarked Rs200m to provide gas to them.—PPI
