KARACHI, July 18: Pakistan Cricket Club (Karachi) ended their pool ‘B’ phase in the PCB National Inter-club Cricket Championship in style as they recorded their fourth successive win, trouncing Ghori Cricket Club (Hyderabad) by nine wickets at the Landhi Gymkhana on Wednesday.
Pakistan CC had already cruised into the last-four stage of the competition after their three straight wins. With Wednesday’s win they emerged as pool ‘B’ leaders.
Off-spinner Irfanuddin grabbed four for 35 and Tabish Nawab captured three for 42 as Ghori CC, batting first, were dismissed for 198 in the 44th over. Faisal Athar hit 35 while Haris Baig made 31.
Pakistan CC, in response, easily reached the target in the 26th over for the loss of opener Fazal Subhan who made a 43-ball 45.
Fazal and his fellow opener Saad Sarkhail (66 off 60 balls) put on 119 for the first wicket to ensure a big win for their team. Daniyal Ahsan hit an unbeaten 55 as he added 80 with Saad for the unbroken second-wicket partnership.
Ghori CC (Hyderabad), after losing all their group league matches, have been ousted from the competition.
