KARACHI, July 18: American pianist Mike del Ferro conducted an intensive two-hour music workshop here at the National Academy of Performing Arts (Napa) arranged by the US consulate.

The students appreciated the performance while del Ferro said that Napa was doing a fantastic job keeping music alive.

In her welcome address Karen Heimsoth, Public Affairs Officer of the US Consulate, said that music has no boundaries and can play a positive role in bringing cultures closer.

Also present on the occasion were prominent Pakistani artistes and Napa faculty members Zia Mohyeddin, the academy Chairman, Talat Hussain, Ustad Salamat Ali Khan and Arshad Mehmud.

Ferro, sponsored by American Voices, is touring Pakistan this week on behalf of the US Mission. The US embassy’s public affairs section has supported the tour in Pakistan, which includes performances in Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi and Peshawar.—APP
