KARACHI: 50-bed hospital planned for Site Town

KARACHI, July 18: Construction work on a 50-bed hospital is due to begin shortly in Site Town’s union council 5.

This was stated by the town’s Naib Nazim Syed Badshah while talking to the Naib Nazim UC-5 Haji Bashir and councillors, who called on him at his office here on Wednesday. He said all formalities for the construction work had been completed.

The naib nazim said the city government was striving to resolve the issues of the masses, besides providing them with basic civic facilities.

He said a boosting pump would soon be installed in UC-5, which would benefit the residents of Pathan Colony, Bawani Chali and others adjoining areas.

Practical measures were being taken to further improve cleanliness in the town, besides initiating a fumigation drive, he added.

Encroachments demolished

The Landhi Town Administration removed over 300 encroachments raised on the town’s drains, which included houses, sheds, shops, etc.

The cleaning of the drains started after the operation was carried out and Town Nazim Syed Asif Hasnain appealed to the people not to raise such encroachments.

The town’s land department demolished the encroachments from drains at Ismail Goth Graveyard, 10,000 Road, UC-11 and 12 and K-Area Market.

The town nazim directed the anti-encroachment staff not to succumb to any pressure and continue the operation at all costs.

He cautioned the people that raising encroachments on drains resulted in choking and the overflowing of gutter water during rains.

Repair of underpass

Shah Faisal Town Nazim Mohammed Imran on Wednesday issued a directive for the immediate repair of the underpass at Natha Khan Goth. People are facing great hardships because of the state of the underpass, over which a railway line passes.

The Chakora nullah, one of the city’s major drains, which drains out sewage from Gulistan-i-Jauhar and the adjoining areas, also passes alongside the underpass. Often sewage accumulates here because of the ineffective drainage system.

The town nazim informed the city government’s district officer buildings, roads and flyovers about the cleaning of drains. He said the overhead bridge at Hazara Chowk, Natha Khan Goth, was also in a dilapidated condition, with the walls on both sides having been broken.

The district officer assured the town nazim that special attention would be paid to the repair of the overhead bridge.—PPI/APP
