Vinod, Seher top STA rankings

KARACHI, July 17: Vinod Das and Seher Khwaja have topped men and women’s half-yearly Sindh rankings released by the Sindh Tennis Association (STA) on Tuesday. The rankings are based on three tournaments held during January–June under the aegis of the STA. Apart from Sindh ranking activities the association also conducted an All-Pakistan ranking tournament, National Games tennis event and Seniors’ tennis tournament in the same period.

Vinod accumulated 70 points winning men’s title at the STA development series besides finishing runner-up and semi-finalist in the other two events. He was followed by Abbas Raza (50), Zuhair Raza (45) and Robin Das (40).

Seher amassed maximum 100 points claiming women’s crown in all the three events.

The STA development series which comes under B category carries 30 points while the other two 35 points apiece.

Eman Malik secured 70 points to finish as runner-up followed by Aliya Hai (30).

Junior international Zuhair Raza has topped boys’ U-17 and U-15 categories securing 100 and 70 points respectively. Abdul Rehman and Hasham Khan had to be content with second and third positions in the two categories.

Nameer Shamsi collected 90 points to top boys’ U-13 rankings followed by Adil Kohari (60) and Arif Khan (40). Khwaja Hamza enjoys top berth in boys’ U-11 rankings with 70 points while Imran Mooraj is No 1 in boys’ U-9 category.
