LAHORE, July 17: The five city district governments in Punjab will regulate building construction through the EDOs (building controls) and give 85 per cent of the building plans to the towns concerned.

This was decided at a meeting which was presided over by law and local government minister Basharat Raja here on Tuesday.

It was stated that the reduced rates of building plan fees would not affect the income of towns because they had not been able to recover fees at previous rates under pressure from influential builders.

The EDO (building control) would have DO buildings, DDOs and ADOs. The number of DDOs and ADOs would match the number of towns in a city district government. The TO (planning and coordination) would work in consultation with DDOs and ADOs.

The new arrangement had been made in accordance with fresh building rules approved by the chief minister last week.
