Robbers shoot exporter over resistance

SIALKOT, July 17: Robbers shot dead an exporter for offering resistance during a robbery attempt at his house in the city’s crowded Nishat Park locality on Tuesday. Three robbers stormed into Mehar Munir’s house in the morning, took the family hostage and started collecting valuables from his house. Munir’s son Usman, who is also an exporter, tried to resist the robbers, who shot him dead at the scene and fled with cash and valuables worth Rs500,000.

BAKERY ROBBED: Three men robbed Muhammad Idris’ bakery shop on Circular Road, Rangpura police precincts, on Tuesday. Later, the bakers’ association announced that bakers would go on a strike if the accused were not arrested within two days.

CAUGHT RED-HANDED: An Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) team caught an assistant accounts officer from the district accounts office when he was taking bribe.

The ACE team, led by senior civil judge Sajjawal Khan, raided the Sialkot district accounts office and arrested Malik Fayyaz Ahmad when he was taking Rs1,000 bribe from Muhammad Ramzan. The ACE later registered a case against Ahmad and sent him behind the bars.

WOMAN KILLED: Four men shot a woman dead “in a tit for tat incident” in Sangiyaal-Sabzpeer village of Pasrur tehsil on Tuesday.
