Woman loses life foiling robbery at neighbours

OKARA, July 17: A woman was killed while her aunt sustained critical injuries when they rushed to their neighbours to foil a robbery at Chak 15-GD on Monday night. Reports said eight dacoits forcibly entered the house of lumberdar Chughatta and started collecting valuables. The inmates raised an alarm on which Khurshid Bibi along with her aunt Irshad Bibi rushed to the lumberdar’s house. On sseing them, the dacoits opened fire, killing Khurshid, 22, on the spot. Irshad Bibi was shifted to DHQ hospital in a critical condition.

Satgrah police are looking into the matter.

ACCIDENT: Two men were killed in a car-tractor collision on Okara-Deepalpur Road here on Tuesday.

Reports said Fazal Ahmad, Saood and Iftikhar riding a car (LEC-9786) were on their way to Deepalpur from Village 38/D. The vehicle collided with a tractor (KSB-7921) in a bid to overtake a cyclist.

Car driver Muhammad Ramzan and Fazal Ahmed were killed on the spot while Saood and Iftikhar sustained severe injuries and were referred to Lahore and Faisalabad hospitals.

Police have registered a case against tractor driver Muhammad Rafiq.

BAILIFF: A bailiff of the sessions court on Tuesday recovered two men from illegal detention of police.

Reports said one Shahzad Husain filed an application with district and sessions judge Muhammad Ashraf Bhatti, stating that police had illegally detained Ijaz Husain and Muhammad Rafiq.

The judge directed the court bailiff to recover them. The bailiff recovered Ijaz Husain and Muhammad Rafiq from the illegal custody of police.
