Construction work on hospital

PESHAWAR, July 16: Construction work on the new Services Hospital, Peshawar, is in full swing. When ready, the hospital will help reduce load on the Lady Reading Hospital, the Khyber Teaching Hospital and the Hayatabad Medical Complex.

The hospital would be completed at a cost of Rs149.5 million within 18 months, said Dr Captain Muhammad Salim, the project director, on Monday. The project would be completed in two phases. Work on the first phase had already been started, he added.

The idea to establish a new Services Hospital in Peshawar cropped up in 1980 due to the steady increase in the number of patients, especially those belonging to the government departments, said Dr Salim.—APP
