KARACHI, July 16: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has directed the city government’s livestock and agricultural department to immediately dispatch teams to the rural areas and villages of Gadap, Keamari and Bin Qasim towns to carry out a comprehensive survey to check post-rain livestock epidemics.

The nazim has also directed the relevant staff to provide every possible help to dairy farmers in this regard.

At the two recently established medical camps, free veterinary medicines were distributed among the 63,000 cattle owners in Landhi Cattle Colony, Bin Qasim Town and Bilal Cattle Colony, Korangi. The EDO agriculture has been directed to personally oversee this campaign.

Drive against stray dogs

Sindh Minister for Local Government, Katchi Abadis and Spatial Development Muhammad Hussain Khan taking notice of increasing number of dog-bite cases in various parts of the city has directed the town administrations to initiate a special campaign against stray dogs, adds PPI.

He also directed all the hospitals and dispensaries under various local body institutions to ensure availability of anti-rabies vaccines for timely treatment of dog-bite patients.

In addition, the minister issued directives for starting cleanliness and anti-encroachment campaigns. He instructed the town administrations to target the breeding grounds of mosquitoes and flies in the spray drive.

He urged citizens to dispose of garbage properly and cooperate with their respective town and union council administration in connection with the cleanliness drive.

He said their small contribution could make a visible difference in overall cleanliness.

The minister also sought a weekly report from all the towns about cleanliness and anti-encroachment measures.
