KARACHI, July 15: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain said on Saturday that his party was unacceptable to the ruling classes because it had challenged the status quo and broken the tradition of dynastic rule.

In a telephonic address to the annual convention of the MQM Overseas at Dallas in United States, Mr Altaf described the London MPC as a `horde’ of big and small parties. “It failed to adopt a unanimous line of action and present even a two-point agenda to the nation.”

The MQM chief said although the MPC could not reach an understanding on launching a movement against the government, it was unanimous in condemning his party.

“The MPC has been a blessing in disguise for the MQM. All the parties are filled with venom against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and they unanimously passed resolutions against the party. The reason for their venom is the MQM’s philosophy of realism and its struggle for the abolition of feudalism,” Altaf Hussain said.

The MQM chief termed the May 12 violence in Karachi a conspiracy, saying that members of the party’s investigation committee had virtually finalised its inquiry and it would share the findings with the nation soon.

He said the ‘conspirators staged, planned and executed the drama and the conspiracy of May 12 with a view to maligning the MQM’.

About the Lal Masjid-Jamia Hafsa operation, he said people were wondering why he had supported the action.
