Top official quits

KUALA LUMPUR, July 15: Malaysia's number two football official quit on Sunday, days after lashing out at coach Norizan Bakar over the Asian Cup co-hosts' abject form.

Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) deputy president who has been with the organisation for 23 years, did not give reasons for his resignation.

“It is with deep regret that I would like to inform you that I have decided to resign from all my positions in the FAM effective today,” Abdullah said in a letter addressed to general secretary Ibrahim Saad.—AFP
