Haj services to go online by Dec


ISLAMABAD, July 15: The Ministry of Information Technology (MoIT) has initiated a Rs29 million project to provide online services regarding Haj.

The main services would include online processing of Haj applications, dissemination of information regarding selection of candidates through ballot, their group names, codes and flight schedules.

The Electronic Government Directorate (EGD) is expected to complete the project phase-wise by December 2007, an EGD official told APP.

All major activities, including supply of hardware, deployment of the Local Area Network and software development had been completed and the EGD would look after the technical and maintenance side of the project till 2009, the official added. A total of 68,000 out of 75,000 Haj applications under the private Haj scheme and 30% Haj applications under the government Haj scheme were successfully submitted electronically.—APP
