ADB to provide Rs820m for road projects

ABBOTTABAD, July 15: The Asian Development Bank will provide Rs820 million assistance for two road projects in Abbotabad. The construction work on the projects would start in October this year.

Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, MPA Qalandar Khan Lodhi said that roads had been included in the reconstruction programme for the earthquake-hit areas.

He said that Rs525 million had been allocated for the construction of Abbottabad-Sherwan road and Rs320 million would be spent on the Kokmang-Boi road.

Mr Lodhi said that various projects worth over Rs2 billion were in progress in Abbottabad, adding that Rs145.3 million had been allocated for the construction of link roads and provision of clean drinking water in the district.

Illegal cutting of trees: Abbottabad Nazim Sardar Haider Zaman has constituted a three-member committee to check illegal cutting of trees in Abbottabad district.

This was decided at a meeting on Saturday.
