FC man killed

By Saleem Shahid

QUETTA, July 14: A soldier was killed and three others injured after gunmen opened fire on a Frontier Corps contingent in Turbat district on Saturday. According to officials, the attack occurred as an FC team was on its way to the Buleda area in Turbat district to assess flood damage. The deceased soldier was identified as Naik Amanullah. The injured FC men were taken to Turbat.

FC troops were combing the area but no arrest was reported.

Meanwhile, bodies of two FC soldiers, who had been missing for two days, were found near the Taftan border area. “They died of dehydration,” an official said, adding that the Iran border officials had handed over the body of a soldier to Pakistani authorities at Taftan border on Saturday.

Sources said that two FC soldiers, Nusrat and Zahoor, had gone in search of water and it appeared that they had lost their way. The body of Nusrat was found on the Iranian side of the border while the body of Zahoor was recovered from the Pakistani side. “Medical reports confirmed they died of thirst,” a security official told this correspondent.
