KARACHI: Work on Baldia water project starts

KARACHI, July 14: Work on a 19-km-long line for supply of six million gallon additional water from Hub reservoir to Baldia Town started on Saturday. Under the project worth Rs387.2 million, the line comprising 12,000 metres mild steel pipes of 48 inch diameter and 7,000 metres pre-stressed pipes of 36 inch diameter will run along Northern Bypass.

KWSB Additional Vice-Chairman Mohammad Moin Khan inspected the work and asked engineers not to compromise on quality while ensuring timely completion of the project. He directed the officials concerned to ensure regular supply of pipes from city government’s pipe factory.

After completion of the project, the 30-year-old problem of water shortage in Baldia will be solved. —APP
