Two killed, 3 bodies found in twin cities

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, July 13: Two persons were killed while three bodies were found in separate incidents in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Friday, the police said.

A man was killed and six others were injured when a mini- truck crashed into a passenger wagon and a tractor near Tarnol. All the casualties were among the passengers except one, who was the tractor driver.

According to the police, drivers of the truck and the wagon, who were responsible for the terrible accident, vanished from the scene.

The incident occurred when the driver of the passenger wagon (RIR-4860), which was going to Dhoke Hamidan from Tarnol, tried to overtake a tractor (SLE-4875) at Murchan Stop, but failed as a mini-truck (RLE-4901) was coming from opposite direction at high speed.

The wagon driver tried to move back to his lane to avoid a collision but unfortunately the vehicle crashed into the tractor. Later, the mini-truck also collided with the two vehicles.

Five persons — Mohammad Arif, Mohammad Hafiz, Sisha Gul, Mohammad Abid, and tractor driver Mohammad Niaz — suffered multiple injures.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital where Mr Arif died, while the others are said to be in stable condition.

Likewise, a man was killed after being hit by a train in Chaklala.

The body of the deceased, who is yet to be identified, was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Rawalpindi for pending identification and legal process.

Bullets riddled bodies of a man and a burqa clad woman were found lying by a roadside near Sangjani here on Friday.

The incident came to light when some passers-by informed the police that two bodies were lying in a pool of blood along the G.T. Road.

The police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) hospital.

The woman, who is yet to be identified, appeared to be 18 years of age. According to the police, the woman suffered a bullet wound to the backside of her head that claimed her life.

The man was identified as Sardar Ghani, 25, a property dealer and a native of Noshera. He received four bullets on his face, hand and upper part of the body.

The police said some bullet casings of a 30-bore pistol were recovered from the crime scene.

The motive behind the murder and the relationship between the deceased was yet to be ascertained, the police said, adding that a murder case had been registered against unidentified killers in the Tarnol police station.

The police said the murder took place in the wee hours of Friday.

The police said that Mr Ghani had discontinued relationship with his family due to a dispute with his father, a labourer in a paper mill at Noshera. After the dispute he shifted to Rawalpindi and established his own business.

Mr Ghani, who married five years ago, also has a son. He lived somewhere in Rawalpindi along with his wife and son, but his parents were not aware of his whereabouts since long.

Meanwhile, the body of a man was found lying in a wooded area of Rawat.

Some passer-by spotted the body and informed the Rawat police. Later, the body was shifted to hospital for pending identification and legal process.

The police said an autopsy would be conducted to ascertain the actual cause of death.

In another incident three persons suffered burn injures in a gas cylinder blast at CNG station in Sadiqabad.

Manzoor Ahmad, Hassan Noor and Mohammad Shafique suffered burn injuries when a gas cylinder burst with a bang at Shafique CNG station. The cause of the blast was not known.

The injured were shifted to Rawalpindi General Hospital, where the doctors referred them to Wah Cantonment Hospital due to their serious condition.

According to doctors, Shafique received 65 per cent burns, Noor 50 per cent and Ahmad 25 per cent.

FRAUDSTER HELD: A man was arrested when he was transporting fake currency notes from Peshawar to Lahore, police said here on Friday.

The Tarnol police stopped a bus at Jhangi Syedan and during search they recovered fake currency worth Rs189,500 from the possession of Mohammad Ayub.

A case has been registered with the police and further investigation is in progress.

Meanwhile, some auto-thieves lifted a white-coloured (RLF- 1837) of Imran Zia from the parking area of his office at I-9/2.
