NAWABSHAH, July 12: The unannounced power shutdown in the city on Thursday not only irked the people but also affected number of operations in the Nawabshah Medical College Hospital.
Hesco authorities shut down four feeders of the T-2 transformer, including the NMC Hospital, Manuabad, Nawabshah and Khair Shah from 7am to 12 noon without prior information. Areas like the Press Club Road, courts, Mehran and Bhangwar colonies, the VIP Road, Khair Shah and dozens of adjoining villages also remained without power.
At least 10 major operations in surgical theatres of the NMC hospital were postponed besides minor surgeries listed in different wards. However some emergency operations were carried out with the help of generators.
The Medical Superintendent of the NMC Hospital Dr Gulshan Ali Memon said not only patients admitted in different wards but those visiting the OPDs and emergency departments faced difficulties.
He urged the Hesco authorities to avoid load-shedding at such sensitive places without information and for long period.
When contacted grid station, an official informed that the feeders were shut down as per schedule for carrying out maintenance and the matter was also reported to Hesco Operations Division for providing information to concerned consumers.
BODIES FOUND: Two dead bodies were found from different parts of the city on Thursday. Body of an infant found near the NMC Hospital’s nursing hostel was taken away by Edhi volunteers for burial.
Meanwhile, body of Wakeel Ahmed 35 a drug addict and resident of Essa Brohi village found near Fire Brigade Office, Linepar was handed over to relatives for burial.
KILLED: A man lost his life in a traffic accident at the National Highway on Thursday.
Asif Ali Khoso 20, resident of Rustam Khoso village died after his tractor trolley was hit by a speedy trailer (TLE-487) at the National Highway near Qazi Ahmed.
The driver managed to escape, however police impounded the trailer.
No FIR was lodged till the filing of this report.
