KARACHI, July 11: Joint favourite three-year-old bay colt Royal King lifted the KRC Cup in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Wednesday. He led the pack of 10 runners to register pillar to post victory over co-favourite colt The Ghazan Prince, beating the latter by five lengths.

Saddled by Mushtaq Ali Khan, Royal King was galloped home by jockey M. Nasir.

Five-year-old bay Mr. Paidagir settled for third by finishing nine-and-a-half lengths behind while chestnut Naseeb-e-Awan completed the frame.

Dawn had predicted that if tried by the connection, Royal King can upset the applecart which came true. Besides, Dawn had four more winners in Queen Of Awan, Sing Sing, Rokara and Silent Love.

Earlier, the Shindoor Cup ended in a blaze of glory for favourite six-year-old bay mare Silent Love. She posted a facile 11 lengths victory over filly Breaking News with Nadim Akhter aboard to make it two on trot.

Four-year-old dark bay filly Gul Bano toppled favourite seven-year-old bay Tun Baba Tun by one-and-a-half lengths to claim her maiden victory under rider Pervaiz Ali.

Though the filly had been appearing on the board quite often in the recent past but the victory eluded her since long.

Favourite four-year-old bay colt Khyber stormed to a three lengths victory over filly Hi Darling to land the concluding event after filly Sugar sweet was not on job.

Champion jockey Nasir was the pick among riders as he ended the day on high note with a treble. Apart from leading Royal King to lift the KRC Cup, he piloted favourites mare Queen Of Awan and seven-year-old bay Rokara home in convincing fashion.

Queen Of Awan beat Silver City by 10 lengths in the opener while Rokara edged past Sweet Saba by nine lengths in the third race.

Colt Sing Sing repeated his winning feat when he outpaced Mr. Mention Not by seven lengths to land the second race.
