Vermeulen’s arson trial deferred

HARARE, July 11: The trial of ex-Test player Mark Vermeulen, charged with arson attacks on the Zimbabwe cricket association's boardroom and training academy, was postponed indefinitely Wednesday, his lawyer said.

“The case was supposed to be heard today, but nothing happened because there are some negotiations taking place between us, the state and other people,” Vermeulen's lawyer Eric Matinenga said without elaborating.

“Maybe within two weeks there will be something out of this,” he added.—AFP
