Villagers not cooperating with Nadra

By Our Correspondent

KHAIRPUR, July 11: Nadra mobile teams are visiting different UCs of Khairpur district to let people get computerised identity cards (CNICs), but people appear reluctant, says General Manager Nadra Col Mohammad Khalid Khan.

The UC Nazims, councillors and social workers need to play their role in motivating people to cooperate with Nadra teams, he said while speaking during a meeting of social workers, political leaders and the UC Nazims here on Wednesday.

The population of Khairpur district was about two million with 9,30,000 qualify the age to obtain identity cards among which only 4,37,000 had been issued the CNICs, he said.

It had been observed that women in rural areas avoid going to mobile teams which put into consideration a proposal of female mobile teams to effectively deal with this issue, said Col Khalid.

People in rural areas had been allowed to get attested their documents by area councillor if no grade 17 officer was available, he added.

The PML-F leader Zafar Iqbal Bilal, the PPP leader Amjad Shah Jilani, the UC Nazim Ghulam Hyder Mahar and others attended the meeting.
