NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, July 11: Two women were killed and a man suffered serious injuries when four armed men allegedly belonging to their rivals opened indiscriminate fire after forcing into their house in Gohino Khan Rind village of Kandiaro taluka on Wednesday.

Reports reaching here said that Malookan, 32, wife of Mohammad Usman Rind and Mirzadi, 40, wife of Qadir Bux Rind, died on the spot and Mohammad Usman sustained serious injuries.

The injured who was admitted to Kandiaro taluka hospital charged that one Qaimuddin Rind with whom they had a dispute over matrimony had forced into his house along with three other people and killed the two women.

He said that he had been receiving threats from the rival group days before the incident.

RALLY: A large number of people staged a rally and sit-in on bypass in Moro on Wednesday in protest against Hesco officials’ failure to restore electricity to their locality.

The rally led by Atta Hussain Surhio and Fida Hussain Memon started from Surhio Mohalla and marched on different roads of the town before reaching the bypass where the participants staged a sit-in, burnt tyres and blocked the road for more than two hours.

The protesters complained that two transformers in their locality had been out of order for three days but no Hesco official had so far turned up to replace or repair them despite several complaints, meetings and requests.

They said that at long last the company men shifted the load to the third transformer to get rid of them but it, too, stopped functioning due to overload.

Moro police and SDO of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco), Irshad Ahmed Memon, rushed to the protest scene and convinced the protesters to end blockade of the road after assuring them that the transformers would be installed in their locality by the evening.

INJURED: One Muzaffar Kalhoro, 18, and Murtaza Chandio, 19, were seriously injured when a truck hit their motorcycle on the Tharushah-Darbelo link road on Wednesday.

The truck driver managed to escape. No FIR was lodged till the filing of this report.
