KARACHI: Seminaries under strict watch: adviser

KARACHI, July 11: Security has been beefed up throughout the province, including Karachi, and seminaries on the home department list are under strict watch after the Lal Masjid operation, said Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister on Home Affairs Wasim Akhtar on Wednesday.

Plainclothes men had been deployed to monitor all seminaries which were on the watch list of the home department, he said, adding that suspected people visiting these places were being monitored. He said extraordinary security at seminaries had also been ordered.

The home adviser observed that suicide bombing had become a global problem. Though it was a tough task to stop such activities, the government was taking measure to control these activities, he maintained.

He said the Sindh police and Rangers had been alerted to tackle any situation.—PPI
