KARACHI, July 11: Two men were shot dead by gunmen in different localities here on Wednesday. A man, in his early thirties, was shot dead by unknown persons in a shop where he worked, in the Preedy police limits. Police said Manzoor Ghulam Nabi, 32, resident of Burnes Road and hailing from Khanpur, was a salesman in a Hong Kong Centre shop in Saddar. He died on the spot.
His body was sent to hospital for autopsy. Police could not find any clue to the killers and also could not ascertain the motive for the killing.
Another man, in his mid twenties, was gunned down in Liaquatabad in the Super Market police limits in the small hours on Wednesday.
The man, identified as Mehar Sajjad, 26, was returning home on his motorbike from his cellular phone shop in Saddar when he was targeted near his residence in B-1 Area.
Police failed to find any clue to the killers and to ascertain the motive for the killing. The body was sent to hospital for autopsy before it had been handed over to his family.
Doctor’s killing
Police on Wednesday failed to make any headway in tracing the killers of a doctor who was shot dead in his clinic in Korangi late on Tuesday night.
Dr Zaheer Ahmed Abbasi, 52, also an active member of the Pakistan People’s Party, was in his clinic with his two sons, Kamran and Farhan, when four gunmen on two motorbikes stormed into the clinic and fired five shots at him with semi-automatic weapons. Dr Abbasi, father of five sons and three daughters, received three bullets to his face and died instantly. The assailants sped away. The body was later sent to hospital for autopsy.
The deceased’s son Kamran lodged an FIR at the Zaman Town police station.
The police termed it an incident of ‘target killing’ but failed to trace the killers.
Lyari gangsters
Nine people were shot at and wounded in an exchange of fire between gangsters in various localities of Lyari on Wednesday.
The gangsters exchanged fire in the police limits of Chakiwara, Kalakot and Kalri as the gang war continued unabated. Nine people were caught in the crossfire and suffered bullet wounds. They were taken to different hospitals.
