Number of voters down in Chitral

Published July 11, 2007

CHITRAL, July 10: The names of as many as 36,000 voters have not been included in the new voters’ list in Chitral district.

Sources said the total number of registered voters in the old voters’ list was 171,000 but it shrank to 125,000 in the new one.

They said very few people were taking interest in the voters’ list as the number of people visiting 120 display centres in the district was very low. About 28 assistant registration officers have been appointed for completing the process of voter registration.
