By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 10: The North Nazimabad Town will spend 51 per cent of its budget for this fiscal on development, Town Nazim Mumtaz Hamid told newsmen at a briefing here on Tuesday.

He said that the Rs552.176 million surplus budget restricted the estimated expenditure to Rs548.867 million. The town, he added, would generate Rs71.795 million through its own resources and receive another amount of Rs281.881 million from the provincial government under the head of octroi/zila tax.

He highlighted major allocations towards various development projects which, he said, included a model park (Rs5 million). A sum of Rs9.2 million has been earmarked for the development and maintenance of parks, playground, nurseries, islands and a fountain in the town. More allocations have been made towards the projects pertaining to improvement and repair of roads, streets, footpaths, streetlights, storm-water drains, etc.

A substantial amount of Rs40 million has been set aside under the head of electricity bills for streetlights.
