LAHORE, July 9: Punjab Greens clinched the 6th National U-15 football championship trophy beating Sindh Reds 4-3 on penalty-shootouts in the final in Khanewal on Sunday. Both teams remained goalless during the regulation time.

Punjab's goal-keeper, Muzammal Hussain was the hero of the day as he successfully blocked the attempts of Sameer and Imran, securing victory for Greens.

By virtue of this win, Punjab Greens has become the most successful team of U-15 soccer.

It was their third triumph in U-15 competition after 1993 ( Lahore) and 2006 (Peshawar).

During penalty shoot-out Greens, struck through Haider Ali, Ghazanfar Abbas, Muhammad Sameer and Muhammad Usman while Sindh Reds, the champions in 1994 and 2004 cashed in on through Habib Ullah, Sameer Mohammad and Junaid Qadir.

A strong Pakistan team will be picked up from the best players of the event, to take part in the Asian U-16 event in October.

The winners received a cash prize of Rs 30,000, while runners up walked away with Rs20,000. The third-placed Balochistan Reds, pocketed Rs15,000 who, defeated Punjab Reds 2-0.

Afghan Club's Mehmood Khan was declared the Most Valuable Player's of the event and awarded a cash prize of Rs5,000 while best goalkeeper, Ghulam Raza (Balochistan), also earned Rs5,000.
