DUBAI, July 9: The West Indies are still at the eighth spot while world champions Australia continue to be world’s No 1 one-day team, according to the latest rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) here.

Australia have 130 points, with South Africa eight points behind at the second place. New Zealand, at the third position, have 113 points while Pakistan have been ranked fourth with 111 points, Sri Lanka fifth with 110 points and India sixth with 109 points.

The West Indies, despite a 2-1 ODI series win in England recently, are eighth with 101 points and England are seventh with 102 points.

The Caribbean team will have an opportunity to improve their position when they travel to Ireland for a quadrangular series also featuring Holland and Scotland besides the hosts in Dublin and Belfast.

With every game in that quadrangular contest carrying a one-day status, there is a chance for the players from those top Associates to improve their rankings.

Scotland can join Kenya and Ireland on table if they beat the West Indies in Dublin on Thursday. Holland will also move up to the main table if they down the West Indies in Dublin on Tuesday and Ireland in Belfast the following day as they will then have 60 percent win rate against the Associates plus a win over a Full Member required to gain that promotion.
