QUETTA, July 9: The Jamaat-i-Islami’s Al Khidmat wing has announced that it will distribute 150 tons of relief goods among 6,000 families in the flood-hit areas of Balochistan.

Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, Jamaat-i-Islami’s provincial chief Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi said the Al Khidmat would provide 100 boat nets to fishermen in Gwadar, Ormara and Pasni and added that 50 tons of eatable items had been dispatched from Karachi to Gwadar.

He said that he returned to Quetta on Sunday after visiting the flood-hit areas in Turbat, Gwadar and Pasni.

He said that 3,000 families were provided 25kgs of relief goods to each family in Turbat.

He said that 30 tons of eatable items could not be transported to Pasni, Jewani and Ormara due to damaged roads.

Maulana Hashmi said the Muslim Aid, Hamza Foundation, Siddique Trust and the Qatar charity had contributed in the relief goods.

He said that 300 volunteers of Al Khidmat were active in different areas of the flood-hit districts where displaced families badly needed tents.

He said the people in the affected areas complained that the government was not distributing relief goods and said that the ruling party would use the collected relief goods as “election package” to get sympathies of victims.
