HYDERABAD: Two brothers drown

HYDERABAD, July 9: Two brothers drowned in River Indus on Thursday near protective bund of Hussainabad in the jurisdiction of Hussainabad police station. The third brother was rescued.

Mohammad Moosa, Jiando 19 and Mohammad 14 had gone to bathe in River Indus due to sizzling heat when they were swept away by strong currents. People of the area managed to rescue Mohammad Moosa while the others drowned.

They were residents of Katchi Abadi Hussainabad. The bodies were not fished out.

The DPO Hyderabad Imran Shaukat had suspended the SHO Hussainabad Police Station, Tariq Khanzada for negligence and failing to prevent boys from jumping into river for swimming.

Earlier, three children had drowned near Sherish Nagar two days back and the SHO Qasimabad Police Station, Shah Jehan Lashari was suspended by the DPO Hyderabad for negligence.

SOLID WASTE: A member of policy planning committee of the People’s Party Parliamentarians, Irfan Qureshi, said on Monday that the district government had completely failed in the management and disposal of solid waste.

In a statement faxed to Dawn, he said that solid waste management was a very important issue but it seemed it was not the district government’s priority list.
