MIRPURKHAS, July 8: The Action Committee for the Rehabilitation of Teachers, comprising primary school teachers who were sacked in 1998, staged a token hunger strike outside the local press club on Saturday demanding that the Sindh government should reinstate them in accordance with directives of the Sindh High Court.
The committee leaders, Manzoor Maher, Mohammad Ismail Shah, Abdul Jabbar Rahimoon, Mohammad Safar, Ghulam Qadir Maher, Mohammad Akhtar and Abdul Rasheed who sat at the strikers’ camp, told journalists that they were among the 40 teachers of the district who had been denied appointment letters after the government reinstated the rest on the orders of SHC.
Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, too, had promised to them that they would soon be reinstated but the promise never saw the light of the day, they regretted.
They demanded that the authorities concerned should ensure that they were issued posting orders otherwise they would continue protesting till they were reinstated.
