KARACHI: 12,000 primary schoolteachers to be trained

KARACHI, July 8: The Sindh government has been implementing a comprehensive training programme for primary teachers to improve teaching skills and quality of education in the government schools.
Under the programme worth Rs76.343 million, around 12,000 teachers of primary schools would be given training. The government had already spent Rs60 million and 79 per cent physical progress had been achieved by June 2007, according to official reports.
Besides, 82 per cent work for improvement of Government Elementary College for Men, Qasimabad, Liaquatabad, and 76 per cent work on the College of Education, Block-15 FB Area, had also been completed.
The reports indicated that 37 per cent progress had been made on the scheme of masters courses for training of teachers with an estimated expenditure of Rs14.78 million.
The total cost of the scheme was estimated at Rs39.83 million.
In addition, 58 per cent progress had been achieved on the establishment of Government College of Education for BEd classes in Darsano Channo, Malir, four per cent work on the education supervisors professional development project and 59 per cent progress had been made on the establishment of provincial education assessment centre.
