Embankments’ reinforcement ordered

MIRPURKHAS, July 5: District Nazim Dr Sughra Junejo on Thursday directed the irrigation officers to strengthen weak embankments of spinal drain, carry out desilting and remove illegal encroachments from Dhoro Puran.

During her visit to main spinal drain, Dhoro Puran from Kot Ghulam Mohammad to zero point Naukot she assured villagers of Saindad Aliani of Jhuddo taluka that protective bunds would be constructed on LBOD to save their villages from saline and rainwater.

She also assured the villagers that a bridge would be constructed across the LBOD near Jhuddo.

Kot Ghulam Muhammad Taluka Nazim Noor Mohammad Bhurgri demanded that the district nazim should order construction of a drain to drain out rainwater from dehs 203 and 296 of the taluka and stop release of irrigation water from Mithrao Canal into main spinal drain.

The nazim meanwhile has set up a disaster management cell and rain emergency centre in her office and advised people to inform the centre on telephone Nos. 9290171 and 9290178 about any emergency or untoward incident.

She was accompanied by DCO Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, Noor Ahmed Bhurgri, UC nazim Ameer Hussain Kaimkhani, UC nazim Roshanabad, Mir Sajjad Hussain and revenue officers concerned.

ARREST: Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested five absconders in the district during last 48 hours. Police said that they arrested the five identified as Pehalwan Mari, Nabi Bux Khoso, Ali Mohammad Korai and Jan Mohammad Thaheem who were wanted in heinous crimes.
