KARACHI: MPAs irked by KESC inefficiency

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 4: Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Rahila Tiwana and two MPAs, Bano Saghir and Naila Inam, have called for an appropriate action against the KESC for failing to execute the electrification project meant for Azim Goth.

Ms Tiwana told Dawn on Wednesday that she and her two assembly colleagues had drawn the relevant authorities’ attention to the KESC’s failure to execute the Rs11.6 million electrification project even six months after it was supposed to be completed.

She said the project had been financed through their personal MPA funds and was undertaken by the KESC in 2004. According to the agreement with the KESC, the scheme was supposed to be completed by Dec 2006, she added.

Ms Tiwana said that an amount of Rs0.2 million was deposited under the head of ‘security deposit’ with the KESC, which was demanding another Rs10 million.”
