LAHORE, July 2: A 100-member emergency health team from Punjab will leave here for Quetta on Tuesday (today) to assist the Balochistan government in overcoming the outbreak of flood-related epidemics.
On the request of the Balochistan government, the federal government has provided a C-130 aircraft that would take 100 doctors and paramedics from Punjab to Quetta, Mayo Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Fayyaz Ranjha told APP here on Monday.
Dr Rajha who heads the team said the emergency health mission comprising medical specialists, general surgeons, dermatologists would carry a huge quantity of anti-cholera, typhoid, gastro-enteritis, anti-snake bite vaccines etc to Balochistan and stay there for more than a week.
He said the Director-General Nurses had been requested to spare a team of highly trained and skilled nurses to accompany the mission on humanitarian grounds.
RELIEF GOODS: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi ordered immediate despatch of 40 truckloads of daily-use items to the flood and rain affected areas of Balochistan.
Official sources told APP that in addition to relief goods, the chief minister had already given Rs500 million for the rehabilitation of flood-affected people of Balochistan.
