Pakistan match against Scotland rained off

EDINBURGH, July 1: Scotland’s One-day International clash against Pakistan here on Sunday has been rained off with no play possible at the Citylets Grange Ground.

Pakistan were expected to field a full-strength team but there was no start to the match even at 2:00pm (6:00pm PST) as light improved later in the day but umpires could not get the play started due to wet outfield and problems at the bowlers’ run-up.

A large number of spectators, majority of them the local Pakistani origin people, had gathered at the ground, only to be disappointed with the news that there was little likelihood of play getting underway.

All eyes are on now Prince Charles charity match at Clydesdale Cricket Ground in Glasgow on Tuesday with speculations mounting whether that game will be possible in view of forecasts for a wet spell throughout Scotland in the coming couple of days.—Agencies
