300,000 names not on Badin voters list, alleges PPP

By Our Correspondent

BADIN, July 1: President of the Badin chapter of the People’s Party Parliamentarians, Dr Sikandar Ali Mandhro, claimed on Sunday that about 300,000 party supporters had been left out of the new electoral rolls in the district, while about 3,000 forms, which were used to gather information about eligible voters, had gone missing.

The eligible voters wondered why their names were not on the computerised electoral lists in spite of the fact that they got receipts after filling in the forms and after they submitted the same, said.

He said that the missing of about 3,000 forms would prove to be a serious setback to the district voters who would not be able to exercise their right of vote in case their names were not on the lists.

A nationalist activist described it as conspiracy to prevent nationalists from voting and demanded a thorough inquiry. A team comprising official of Election Commission of Pakistan would be arriving from Islamabad within a couple of days to hold an inquiry into the missing forms’ issue.

One Faiz Mohammad told journalists that his name was not enrolled in computerised list although he had filled the form and got a receipt.

“Why should I file form-IV as I did not miss my name intentionally why should I bother for no fault of mine, he said.
