LARKANA: Incessant rain harming Moenjodaro

By Our Correspondent

LARKANA, July 1: The monsoon rain that has been lashing the district for more than a week has harmed some parts of the five-thousand-year-old Moenjodaro due to adequate arrangements for draining out water accumulating in the lanes and small rooms.

The water accumulating in the DK area has caused some damages because there is no arrangement for draining out water from small rooms, which have no drains.

On Sunday water stood on the main platform of Stupa and the main street. The stagnating water can cause some degree of damage to the structure and may lead to salinity and waterlogging.

The rains provided a pretext to Hesco to shut down electricity supply. Municipal authorities seemed helpless to drain out rainwater because its pumping machines were not functioning due to power failure. The low-lying areas along the main airport road, Bakrani road, fish market, Karmabagh, Lahori, Gajanpur, Muradwahan, Station road remained submerged in water.
