HYDERABAD: PML dissidents vow to continue struggle against ‘group of five’
Bureau Report
HYDERABAD, July 1: Withdrawing resignations submitted by members of a dissident group in the Hyderabad district chapter of the PML, a member of its central committee, Samiuddin Sajid, said on Sunday that the fight against ‘the group of five who have dominated the party’s Hyderabad district branch will continue till their removal.
Mr Sajid, accompanied by over a dozen local party leaders, was speaking at a press conference at the press club here, said that a committee, comprising senior members of the party, had persuaded the dissident group to withdraw resignations.
He, however, made it clear that the struggle would continue till the removal of the district leadership of the party. He said that a committee of senior party leaders comprising ladies, labour and youth wings, had found the complaints of the dissident group quite genuine and correct.
He said this committee has demanded of the Sindh chief minister and senator Ghaffar Qureshi to remove the group of five who had no social or political background and had nothing to do whatsoever with PML-Q.
Sajid said that this group had destroyed the party in Hyderabad district.
He demanded that present district body should be removed and a new body comprising senior leaders should be appointed to save the party from total destruction.
He warned that if this was not done, then the workers convention scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on July 6, will chalk out future course of action.
He said a committee comprising senior leaders of the party, including Chaudhry Mazharul Haq, S.M.Ilyas, Apa Manzar Rawal, Mehboob Junejo, Nasreen Riaz and others had been appointed which will herald a struggle against the group of five.
Sajid said that all sincere and committed party workers will attend the public meeting at Tando Allahyar on July 5 which will be addressed by president General Pervez Musharraf.
