Lavish spending

LAHORE, June 30: Governor Khalid Maqbool on Saturday criticised the University of Education management for, what he said, lavishly using electricity by running heavy air-conditioners.

“Anything we get free from the government, we use it lavishly,” he said.

Delivering a convocation address, Mr Maqbool said he wore a cotton suit as it was a hot summer day. But, he said, as he entered the university’s auditorium, he noticed a strong coolness in the hall. While sitting on the stage, he said, he was thinking that he should have worn an overcoat to face such a low temperatures in the auditorium.
