KARACHI: Liaquatabad, Landhi towns pass budgets

KARACHI, June 30: The Landhi and Liaquatabad town administrations passed their budgets for the year 2007-08 on Saturday. surplus budget with an outlay of Rs478.650 million was passed by the Landhi Town council. Town Nazim Syed Asif Hasnain presented the budget at the council’s meeting which was presided over by Irshad Ahmed.

With the total expenditure having been put at Rs478.449, the budget shows a surplus of Rs201,000.

Briefing newsmen after the session, the town nazim said that 50 per cent of the total budget, i.e. Rs341.413 million, was earmarked for development-related projects whereas a sum of Rs237.036 million was allocated for non-development expenditures.

The town would receive a managing grant of Rs342.8 million from the provincial and city governments under the head of octroi/zila tax while Rs51.6 million would be generated by the town from its own resources.

A balanced budget with an outlay of Rs422.471 million was approved by Liaquatabad town council at a meeting chaired by Rehan Siddiqui. Town Nazim Osama Qadri presented the budget.

A sum of Rs130.435 has been earmarked for development-related projects.

The receipts under the head of octroi from the provincial and city governments have been estimated at Rs327.733 million whereas the town would get one per cent of the revenues from property tax which has been estimated at Rs25 million.
