Balochistan budget approved

QUETTA, June 29: The Balochistan Assembly approved the provincial budget for 2007-08 here on Thursday night, rejecting all cut motions moved by the opposition. Finance Minister Syed Ehsan Shah presented 55 demands for grants. Forty-four demands, worth Rs41.49 billion, were for development expenditure and 11 others worth Rs13.47 billion were for non-development expenditure.

Opposition members Kachkol Ali, Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, Sardar Azam Musakhel, Mir Jan Mohammad Buledi, Rehmat Ali Baloch, Shafiq Ahmed Khan and Dr Shama Ishaq Baloch tabled over 100 cut motions. The finance minister rejected all allegations and apprehensions of opposition members.

Speaker Jamal Shah Kakar presided over the session.
