KHAIRPUR, June 29: The driver of a bus and a five-year-old boy were killed and 20 others were injured after the vehicle overturned on the National Highway near Rasoolabad early on Friday morning when he applied emergency brakes to avoid a truck parked on the road.

Reports reaching here said that the tie-rod of the Karachi-bound bus broke and it overturned after the driver applied emergency brakes to stop the speeding bus from hitting the truck.

Nek Zaman, 40, of Kohat and Anis Gul, 5, also of Kohat died on the spot and 20 passengers including Khayal Bahadur, Gul Bahadur, Nawab Gul, Anwar Khan, Shoukat Pathan, Nooruddin Pathan, Kaleemullah Pathan, Bismillah Khan, Abdullah Saheb, Khayal Math, Jinnan Khan, Sawan Khan Khoso, Munir Ahmed Mehmdani, Allah Dino Bhand (Hala), Ms Saheb Khatoon, Ms Kamil Khatoon and four others sustained injuries.

People from the nearby locality rushed to help the accident victims and moved the injured to RHC Hingorja and Ranipur. Some of the injured were later referred to Sukkur and Karachi.
