KARACHI: Aamir Khan gets five years in attack case

KARACHI, June 29: Mohajir Qaumi Movement Chairman Aamir Khan has been sentenced to five years in jail in a case of an attack on the residence of provincial minister Shoaib Bukhari.
The sentence was handed down on Friday by Additional District and Sessions Judge (Central) Gulshan Ara Chandio at the Judicial Complex on the premises of the Central Prison.
The case against Khan was registered at the Liaquatabad police station on June 19, 1992, and he was arrested in June 2003.
A spokesman for the Movement, Kamran Rizvi, told Dawn that the conviction order came under government pressure, adding that it would be challenged in the High Court.
