UK hit by postal strike

LONDON, June 29: British postal staff went on strike on Friday in a row over pay and government plans to cut thousands of jobs at the semi-privatised Royal Mail. The nationwide walkout, which union bosses said would be carried out by up to 130,000 workers, comes just two days after Gordon Brown replaced Tony Blair as prime minister.—AFP
