Kashif bags seniors squash crown

KARACHI, June 28: Kashif Khan claimed the KC Sindh senior ranking squash title registering a vigorous three games to two win against Shahroze Khan in the men’s final on Thursday.

Kashif, 19, semi-finalist of Hyderabad Open last month, was home 11-10, 6-11, 11-10, 9-11, 11-9 in 58-minutes at Karachi Club.

The 24-year old Shahroze who levelled the score 1-1 after grabbing the second game was 10-7 up in the third but conceded 10-11 to trail 1-2 in the best of five match.

Shahroze again recovered to neutralise the lead 2-2 taking the fourth game 11-9 only to lose the decisive 9-11.

Teenager Habiba picked up her maiden women’s title when she accounted for Anam Aziz 9-6, 10-8, 9-7 in 20-minutes.

Kashif received the winner’s prize of Rs5,000 while Habiba took home Rs2500.

The losing finalists were also awarded cash prizes.

Final results:

Men’s: Kashif Khan bt Shahroze Khan 11-10, 6-11, 11-10, 9-11, 11-9. Women’s: Habiba Khan bt Anam Aziz 9-6, 10-8, 9-7.
