PM, Shujaat meetings with Jatoi sign of moves in Sindh

ISLAMABAD, June 27: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz had a meeting with the federal minister for water and power, Liaquat Jatoi, at the latter’s residence on Tuesday evening and remained with him for quite some time, which left many observers guessing about a possible political move in Sindh.
The meeting was seen by political observers in the light of the worsening law and order situation in wake of continuous power breakdowns in Karachi and the MQM losing patience due to public outbursts.
It was not clear what transpired between the two in the meeting since both remained in the room without each other’s aides.
The meeting was, however, confirmed by an official in protocol who termed it as a routine “family meeting.” He said, “both have family terms and it was one such meeting in which the prime minister was accompanied by his family.”
Earlier, PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain had also held a meeting with the minister from Sindh as he went to the chamber of the minister in parliament house and remained with him for some time, again, without an aide.
Mr Jatoi was not available on telephone for his comment on both these high-profile one-on-one meetings.
