PESHAWAR, June 27: A habeas corpus petition was filed in the Peshawar High Court on Wednesday regarding the disappearance of a citizen Shah Zaman 13 days back. The petitioner Mohammad Naeem charged that the local police had kept his uncle in illegal detention and did not produce him before any court of law.

Previously, the Peshawar District and Sessions’ Judge Miftauddin Khan had dismissed the petition challenging the alleged police detention of Mr Zaman on June 18 when the concerned SHO of Nasirbagh police station stated on oath that he had neither picked up the missing person nor was he aware of his whereabouts.

The police and provincial home department were made respondents in the new petition. President PHC Bar Association Abdul Lateef represented the petitioner.
